Nike Air Rift Gets the Summer “BR” Treatment
The cult classic Air Rift is one of Nike’s most unique running “shoes” ever. Inspired by barefoot Kenyan distance runners, the distinctive model truly blurs the line between shoe and sandal, sporting a laceless, neoprene upper that reveals much of the foot, secured with straps at the midfoot and heel. But apparently that wasn’t quite summery enough.
This year, the Nike Air Rift BR will roll out to stores, the latest revered Nike shoe to be reimagined in light, breathable materials suitable for summer. Of course, with the Rift, a slew of changes aren’t necessary. A wide-open mesh is swapped in on the overlaid portions of the upper, while the inner-bootie rocks different variations on the same concept: light, breathable mesh. That’s pretty much it. Great summer shoe perfected.
Sold? Well, the Nike Air Rift BR hasn’t hit stores just yet, but it looks like it could launch by May or June. Stay tuned for developments, and check out the first four colorways below.
