Groupon is Selling Knockoff Nike Air Huaraches
Groupon has gone through some growing pains over the years, going from must-see daily destination for Web deals to something of an afterthought. Now the website attempts to build that brand equity and excitement back up, and how better to do that than by slinging knockoff Nike Air Huaraches?!
Yep, Groupon.co.uk is now selling the Hyper Punch Trainer for £18.98 apiece. Technically the shoe isn’t a “fake” per se, as there’s no actual claims of being a Nike product — no “NIKE” script on the heel — but the design is a 100% dead ringer for the genuine Air Huarache we all know and love, from the neoprene inner-bootie and leather exoskeleton to the famous heel-counter. (I also feel compelled to point out that “Hyper Punch” is basically a proprietary color of Nike’s. No one else uses that particular parlance.)
If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. If you can’t join ’em, sell poorly conceived knockoffs on a publicly-traded eCommerce platform. Or don’t, but I guess that’s not an option.
Check out the Groupon listing here while it lasts, or head to FootLocker.com to buy an actual pair of Nike Air Huaraches. Below, feast your eyes on the much, mesh less than genuine wares.
